In The Veil of the Temple, we conceived a lighting design that engaged intimately with both the music and the profound symbolism of the piece. The lighting followed the sonic journey from darkness to light, visually reinforcing the emotional cycles proposed by Tavener’s score. We worked with the light from the balcony of the Santuario de la Mare de Déu del Carme, projecting it into the space with subtlety and respect for the architecture, creating atmospheres that embraced each musical transition. We installed a 12-meter Lux Pixel tube, which allowed us to choreograph a precise and meditative movement of light, in constant dialogue with the unfolding of the work. The most symbolic gesture was expressed through a laser that represented the veil: a line of light that exists, stretches, tears, and ultimately reveals. With this installation, our aim was not only to illuminate, but to create a contemplative space where light, sound, and architecture merged into a shared emotional and ritual language.
